Set on the northern edge of Great Yarmouth and only a few minutes walk from the beach. Great Yarmouth Racecourse offers one of the most picturesque racecourse settings in the country and is one of the only racecourses in the country to feature a straight mile, making it an important racing venue in both trainer's and spectator's calendars.
The Potteries is a historic building with a medieval wall. Built from shipwrecks and drift wood. As soon as one enters you are transported back to “Yarmouth Past” with tarred timbers and pieces of old ships and other nautical paraphernalia helping to give you the feel of what’s in store inside. Spend time exploring the smoking museum and then the fully working pottery and art studio.
The community library on Tolhouse Street has an amazing range of books, DVDs and console games. There are over 40 PCs for the public to use free of charge as well as a colourful children's area, large open plan library and comfortable seating area to relax and read a book, magazine or newspaper or surf the internet.
The delightful Row Houses at Room 111 and the Old Merchant's House are rare remnants of Great yarmouth's original distinctive 'Rows' which were a network of narrow alleyways linking Yarmouth's three main thoroughfares. Many 'row houses' were damaged by World War II bombing or demolished during post-war clearances, but two surviving properties show what these characteristic dwellings looked like at various stages in their history.
The Historic Hippodrome is Britains only surviving TOTAL Circus Building, built in 1903 by the legendary Circus showman George Gilbert. Throughout the century the intimate arena has played host to an incredible variety of entertainment, from amazing water spectacles and stage variety shows to cinema and cine variety and even wartime use as a military practice shooting range!
